Our history
Origins
Fotohaus began in the late 1990s, long before the arrival of digital photography. Back then, architectural photography was a slower, more deliberate craft. We worked with large format view cameras, composing images beneath a dark cloth while viewing the scene upside down and back to front. Every exposure was captured on transparency film, so accuracy was critical from the moment the shutter was released.
In those early days, a full day’s shoot might deliver just five to seven carefully crafted images, supplied as mounted 5×4 inch transparencies. Since then, we've embraced every major technological shift in the industry, from drum scanning and large format digital backs to today’s high-resolution camera systems and specialist perspective-control lenses.
While the tools have evolved, our commitment to quality has remained unchanged. Today, we regularly deliver anything from a few dozen to several hundred meticulously processed images from a single commission, alongside cinematic 8K video production that brings architecture to life.

Photographer
Craig
Craig holds both a Degree and a Master's in Photography. Over the years he has worked as a consultant to major image libraries, run a photography gallery, reviewed portfolios at international photography festivals, and founded Fotohaus.
He has been commissioned by some of the most respected titles in architecture, construction and design, including Architects' Journal, The Architectural Review, RIBA Journal and Sleeper. His work has also been published by leading national newspapers such as The Guardian, The Times, The Telegraph and the Financial Times, alongside numerous book publishers and specialist industry publications.
With a lifelong passion for photography, architecture and visual storytelling, he continues to lead projects across the UK and beyond. He also owns far more camera bags than any one person could reasonably justify.
PHOTOGRAPHER
Diane
Diane holds a degree in Photography, but her journey began long before university. After travelling extensively around the world, she learned her craft by assisting some of the UK's leading architectural photographers, gaining invaluable experience on prestigious commissions and complex projects.
She later joined one of the UK's foremost construction companies as an in-house photographer, developing a deep understanding of the built environment from both the architectural and construction perspectives.
Before joining Fotohaus, Diane had already built a wealth of experience across the industry. Fluent in three languages, she brings an international outlook, technical expertise, and a keen eye for detail to every project.
PHOTOGRAPHER
Liz
Liz grew up in London with two enduring passions: protecting the environment and drawing buildings. She began her career in the built environment, producing landscape plans at Building Design Partnership before moving into architectural photography with the Arcaid Image Library. She joined Fotohaus at a pivotal moment, helping the business navigate the transition from film to digital photography.
Having worked with a wide range of architectural, educational and cultural clients across the UK, Liz later relocated to Germany, where she established the Fotohaus Berlin office. In 2026, she completed an MSc in Sustainability and Adaptation in the Built Environment, further strengthening her expertise in the future of sustainable design.
Alongside her work as a photographer, Liz is a journalist who explores the challenges and opportunities facing the built environment. Her fluency in German has enabled her to become a DGNB Registered Professional with Germany's Sustainable Building Council, and she actively supports local climate and environmental initiatives.
